At Beachwood Resort, we’re about providing you with an experience you’ll cherish and remember for years.

Our History

Beachwood Lodge was built in 1926.

It was operated as a fishing camp opened for July and August, catering to American guests. There was 2500 ft of shoreline on Lower Buckhorn Lake.

1944 Harry and Florence Morgan purchased the lodge and along with their two sons, Frederick and Richard, they continued to operate it as a fishing destination. There were cottages and rooms in the lodge. All guests received meals and accommodations.

In 1971, Karen and Fred (Frederick) took over the operations and together with their three children, Steve, David and Krista, continued the tradition. Over the years cottages and lodge rooms were renovated and condos were added. Guests now had choices regarding menu items and meal plans. The new name developed as Beachwood Resort.

The Third Generation

of Morgan’s are now running the resort.

Beachwood caters to guests seeking lakeside vacations, family getaways, weddings, meetings and retreats of all kinds. Frederick’s at Beachwood is the licensed restaurant located in the main lodge. There you will find excellent cuisine created by Chef Michael Henson and a lakeview table waiting for you.

As the fourth generation grows into Beachwood staff, you will find some of them on the property helping out with the many jobs. Their names are Tyler, Wade, Clayton, Harlee, Jack, Nicholas, Braden and Caleb.

Heritage

The tradition continues at Beachwood Resort, as the Morgan’s continue to serve the guests. You will find Krista in the office, Dave on the grounds, Karen in the kitchen and the gardens. Steve and Richard are close by to help when needed. And a new generation of Morgan’s can be found cleaning the boats, raking the beaches, and helping in the kitchen. We truly are a family resort that caters to families. Hospitality is our family tradition.

We would also like to mention our seasonal staff members who we greatly appreciate, they work hard each year to ensure the guests of both the resort and Frederick’s restaurant enjoy their visit.

On a special note, we wish to acknowledge our long time staff member, Chef Dennis Snyder, who sadly passed away in 2012. Dennis served us and the guests of Beachwood for 23 years, and was indeed a close member of our Beachwood Family. Dennis is missed not only by our family, but by the returning guests who enjoyed his keen sense of humour and exceptional culinary skills.
